The data shows the number of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) to India from 2001 to 2023. FTAs steadily increased from 2.54 million in 2001 to a peak of 10.93 million in 2019. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a dramatic collapse in 2020 and 2021, with arrivals plummeting to 2.74 million and then to a historic low of 1.52 million. The sector began recovering in 2022, but still hasn't managed to catch-up to the pre-pandemic levels.
